Heat-resistant antimicrobial agent and fungicide for Textile use
COSMOTEX PDPY-01
Super Durable finish on Polyester fibers
Active component | : | organic nitrogen and sulfur compounds |
Appearance | : | white to pale yellowish pink suspension |
Hazardousness | : | nil |
Stability | : | stable in weak acid or alkaline solution |
Solubility | : | suspended in water |
By using 0.25 to 3 % o.w.s. or o.w.f. of COSMOTEX PDPY-01, antimicrobial activity can be offered against such fungi as Aspergillus niger, Penicillium citrinum, Cladosporium cladosporioides, such bacterias as Staphylococcus aureus, MRSA (Methicillin resistant Staphylococcus aureus), Escherichia coli, VRE (Vancomycin resistant Enterocuccus faeoium) and Klebsiella pneumoniae (and Pseudmonas aeruginosa by using a higher concentration of COSMOTEX PDPY-01)
Acute oral toxicity | : | LD50 in monkeys > 1,000 mg/kg (bulk powder) |
Acute percutaneous toxicity | : | LD50 in rabbits > 2,000 mg/kg (bulk powder) |
Mutagenicity | : | negative (Ames) |
Skin Irritation | : | semi-negative (replica method determined by Kawai Medical Laboratory for Cutaneous Health) (Preparatoin as raw material) |
Skin sensitization | : | nil (preparation as raw material) |
(Other safety data are available upon request)
Fabric should be scoured, rinsed with hot water thoroughly to be neutralized (without residual acid, alkali, oxidizer or reduction agent).
Concentration | : | For Hospital linen & white robe (Industrial hard washing), 1.5 ~ 2 % o.w.f. for 100 % polyester. 1.0 ~ 2 % o.w.f. for polyester/cotton. For Home laundry washing (mild washing), 0.5 ~ 1.0% o.w.f for either 100% Polyester or T/C. |
Liquor ratio | : | 1 : 5 ~ 10 (lower ratio is preferable) |
Temp. & Time | : | 135°C for 30 ~ 60 minutes |
pH | : | 5 ~ 7 ( alkaline condition is not recommended.) pH below 5 decomposes COSMOTEX PDPY-01. |
Drying or heat setting | : | 100 ~ 130°C for a few minutes, or 180 ~ 190°C for 30 ~ 60 seconds |
Reduction cleaning | : | to be carried out if necessary by 0.1% soda ash, 0.1 % hydrosulfite under mild condition. |
Note: Efficacy of antimicrobial activity may vary according to original states of polyester fiber (denier, presence or absence of residual additives, conditions of scouring and weight reduction) and co-used dyes and auxiliaries. Therefore, it is recommended to conduct preliminary tests.
Dipping by 0.25 ~ 1 % o.w.s. → Squeezing to 70 ~ 80% pickup → Baking at 180 ~ 210°C for a few minutes → Rinsing with hot water → Drying or heat setting
Note: a certain degree of moisture remained after pre-drying process can improve the permeability into the inside of fiber. Execution of high-pressure or high-temperature steaming may improve permeability.
In treating nylon or acrylic fabric, normal dyeing conditions should be adopted (with a lower liquor ratio, and pH value between 5 ~ 7). In case of Nylon or acrylic, durability of efficacy may be effective with 5 ~ 10 times home laundry.
Official public data show that there was no effect by 200 ppm or less (as original state of COSMOTEX PDPY-01)
Note: It must be diluted to 100 ppm or less in case of discharging directly to public sewage
Substrate | : | polyester/cotton (85/15) blend |
Conditions | : | 1 % o.w.f. of COSMOTEX PDPY-01 135°C for 30 minutes, liquor ratio 1 : 10 |
Laundering | : | repeated at 50 times of laundering at 85°C for 15 minutes + detergent & Rinsing at normal temperature for 10 minutes. |
Test result | : | Bactericidal activity index according to test manual integrated by JAFET (approved for SEK Red Mark label for hospital use as most severe high class.) |
